Meetings: 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the EOC on the lower floor of the Richland County Courthouse.
MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION: To form a group of volunteer amateur radio operators to provide communications when normal communication availibility is down.
PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION: To assist the police, the fire department, Sheriff's department, the EMT's, the Richland County Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the Richland Hospital, and Emergency Management by providing communications during times of natural and human disasters. When electric and phone lines or the current communications systems are down volunteer "ham" radio operators with their amateur radio equipment will be on hand to provide a radio connection between these departments and areas not involved with the disaster.
Services we provide:
# 1. Storm spotting
# 2. Cooperate with any agency needing our services -- Emergency Communications
# 3. Radio communications for bike rides, walk, runs, or other community events
Volunteer opportunities through our organization:
# 1. SKYWARN volunteer
# 2. Our PVR "Walk with Grace" team raises funds for GRACE, Inc.
# 3. Provides roadside cleanup in our designated area
